International tennis returns to LESA
International Tennis is back in Lesa
Tennis Sporting Lesa was born in 1950s within a park of almost 15,000 square meters and is located in Lesa, a splendid town on the shores of Lake Maggiore in the Province of Novara, less than 10km from Arona and Stresa.
The complex includes the tennis club, the gym and the summer swimming pool. Four clay courts, a synthetic grass court, a fitness room with Finnish sauna, two outdoor swimming pools with diving boards and platforms, a large Club House with bar and restaurant.
A small but historically important town on Lake Maggiore, Piedmontese side, in the 1950s Lesa was the birthplace of one of the most beautiful and prestigious clubs in Italy. Tennis Sporting Lesa was born thanks to the sporting passion of Giuseppe Marenzi and the patronage of Commendator Lambertenghi, a tennis club of rare beauty in the green setting of the lake of Camellias and Azaleas. A few years after its birth, Marenzi organized international tournaments in which participated the strongest and most famous tennis players of those times ... Rod Laver, Ken Rosewall, Pancho Gonzales, Fausto Gardini, Andre's Gimeno, Nicola Pietrangeli, Martin Mulligan and many others.
Also in the 1950s and 1960s Lesa hosted male first and second category tournaments, which saw the partecipation of the first twenty Italian players, and of national tournaments and women's internationals (the legendary "Lea" won several editions in Lesa).
The seventies saw the organization of the Valerio Cup (Davis under 18) where the greatest players of those years could be seen: Ivan Lendl, Emilio Sanchez, Yannick Noah, Corrado Barazzutti , etc.
The Club, owned by the Marenzi family, is now managed in the sporting section by Gregorio, the grandson of the founder Giuseppe, a true sportsman who decided after many years to organize again international events with the aim of bringing the club back to the levels of the 50s / 70s.

Lesa Cup 2022, thanks to the partnership with Associazione Settimane Musicali di Stresa organizer of the prestigious International Festival "Stresa Festival", which takes place every year since 1962 on the shores of Lake Maggiore between July, August and September in various prestigious venues, it will host a concert to be held during the tournament on the tennis court. The initiative was created for the dissemination and promotion of knowledge of classical music through other arts and disciplines. A wonderful combination of music and tennis.
